Lisanne:
I'm a real Dutch native, born in Groningen, raised in Amsterdam and now I live with my partner in 's-Hertogenbosch. Of course, I love dancing, but I have many other hobbies and interests, like singing, swimming, archeology, ancient history and of course cats. I also love working with children.
From the moment I could walk, I swirled through the room and I wished I was in a ballet class. Unfortunately, in the small village I grew up in, I could not start any dance classes before I was 5 years old. Finally, I turned 5, started my first ballet classes and I loved it! I started in 1994 with Classical Ballet in Leek, led by Maud Walkate, and have never stopped dancing since. The need to live life through dance has always remained and I've never left the ballet world. I continued my ballet training in 1998 in Groningen at Wanda Kuiper, until I moved to Amsterdam in 2000 and took lessons with Marjolein Buningh at Ballet School de Toverfluit. In 2002, I continued my education at the English Ballet School of Amsterdam, led by Pauline Holden. When I got the chance to train as a ballet teacher, I grabbed it with both hands. There is nothing more beautiful than to be able to share this passion with others! Besides Classical Ballet, I played in several Musicals at the National Youth Musical Theatre. Although I have practiced many different types of dance with pleasure, including Belly Dance, Hip Hop, Streetdance, Show, Jazz and Bharatanatyam, Classical Ballet stayed with me as my first love!
I teach according to an international method in the British style of Classical Ballet. This style is formed by a pure, precise technique, without ornaments, and an emphasis on a good basic technique and strength. This Ballet style has produced several famous dancers such as Alicia Markova, Margot Fonteyn and Darcey Bussell. The followed worldwide syllabus leads on from amateur to professional level, both children and adults. It is therefore annually possible for everyone from 3 years old to take an international ballet exams. Of course we also hold an annual performance!
